MBK Atlanta Relaunches Under Mayor Bottoms’ Leadership

When Keisha Lance Bottoms was elected mayor, her team reached out to us with a desire to relaunch MBK efforts in Atlanta. Given the mayor’s excitement and commitment to equity and justice for communities of color, we invited her to join us at MBK Rising!, where she spoke on the mainstage. The mayor shared at that time that the relaunch of MBK Atlanta was a key priority. Since then, she has charged senior leadership in her administration to focus on MBK Atlanta and on communities of color. She also launched the Mayor’s 100 Men to Mentors Challenge, a partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters to call on residents to close the waiting list for young men seeking mentors.

Accelerate Impact

In September, Mayor Bottoms held an inaugural Summit on Atlanta’s Boys to relaunch My Brother’s Keeper and to re-ignite local leaders and youth. The MBK Alliance and Bloomberg Associates staff are now working with the city to develop and launch their Local Action Plan, rooted in the Mayor’s vision of One Atlanta, an affordable, equitable, and resilient city.
