Judith’s story
Watch how the Girls Opportunity Alliance supports education access for adolescent girls in Tanzania.
Meet Judith, the first woman in her community to attend university with help from Asante Africa, an organization supported by the Girls Opportunity Alliance.
In Judith’s community, most girls do not have the opportunity to complete secondary school – and many are forced to marry at just nine or ten years old.
Judith was determined to continue to learn. With help from Asante Africa (Opens in a new tab) and her primary school teacher, Judith registered for school without her parents knowing and was able to continue her education.
Asante Africa works to address education access by partnering with rural schools and communities in East Africa to provide vulnerable and underserved youth with educational resources and support they need to succeed both in the classroom and beyond.
“The support that I got from Asante Africa, from form one up to the university level, changed my life totally. Now, I'm the first girl that has education at the university level in my community. I would like to become one of the changers to allow girls to go to school. My education will transform my community.”
With support from Asante Africa, Judith and countless others are empowered to become the next generation of change agents, whose dreams and actions transform our world.
