As we gear up for March Madness, the Obama Foundation is celebrating the role of sports in bringing communities together. As friends, families, and coworkers jot down their NCAA Basketball Championships picks, we’re once again sharing President Obama’s bracket along with stories about how basketball is driving impactful work in communities across the country and around the world.

Poring through the hundreds of submissions we receive every day, it’s clear that people are turning to sports to make a positive impact in their own communities and bring people together. Here are a couple examples that we wanted to share:

Shooting Touch Inc., based in Boston, Massachusetts, uses basketball to achieve three objectives: 1) Promote physical activity, wellness, and health education; 2) Support equal access to sport; and 3) Empower communities to work together to create social change breaking the cycle of poverty and disease.

And across the pond in Morocco, TIBU Maroc inspires and develops young leaders through basketball, social, and educational projects.
