MBK Mount Vernon accepted the MBK Community Challenge to improve the lives of boys and young men of color (BYMOC) in 2016. MBK Mount Vernon is a collaboration between the M. V. School District, the City Government, and the community stakeholders. They are providing mentoring, trips, workshops, employment, and leadership training. MBK Mount Vernon is focused on three of the six MBK milestones: (1) improving school readiness, (2) ensuring that BYMOC are reading at grade level by the third grade, and (6) reducing violence and providing second chances.
