Shobana Powell is the CEO and founder of Shobana Powell Consulting, a firm that provides training and technical assistance to support victims of human trafficking. She developed the Survivor Equity and Inclusion Framework, a model for how organizations can ensure their work is ethically and sustainably led by the communities they serve. Under her leadership, her team has trained more than 5,000 professionals and consulted on over 60 projects across the United States. She also has more than 15 years of experience leading programs to address gender-based violence across rural and urban communities in New York, California, and Louisiana. Shobana draws on her own family’s experience facing discrimination to inform her work to advocate on behalf of other communities. She is committed to supporting trafficking victims with a lens on systems change through large-scale training that increase the resilience of those serving survivors.
