Ireland

Tammy Darcy is the founder and CEO of The Shona Project, a multi-award-winning social enterprise dedicated to educating, empowering, and inspiring Irish girls to become strong, confident, and curious young women. The Shona Project has delivered workshops across Ireland and hosts the award-winning Shine Festival, which gathers thousands of girls each year to hear from inspirational female role models. The organization is a tribute to Tammy’s sister Shona, who passed away in 2023 after a long illness, and has supported over 100,000 girls in her name to date. In 2021, Tammy was named the Irish Red Cross Humanitarian of the Year, and received the European Citizens’ Award in November 2023. Tammy is passionate about ensuring that every girl in Ireland achieves her potential, whatever that means for her. Drawing inspiration from Mrs. Obama, Tammy has built up an ecosystem to uplift underprivileged young women across Ireland.
