Arba Kokalari has been a member of the European Parliament since 2019, representing Sweden and the Moderate Party, a center-right coalition. She focuses on legislation for Europe’s digital and green transition, particularly in tech, digital services, AI, circular economy, and sustainable products. Arba was the European People’s Party Group’s lead negotiator for the Digital Services Act, advocating for platforms to remove illegal content on social media. As rapporteur for the Istanbul Convention on combating violence against women, she successfully pushed for the European Union’s ratification of the legislation. Arba also strongly advocates for the European Union to act against authoritarian regimes. Born in Albania under communism, Arba moved to Sweden as a child. She is committed to freedom, democracy, women’s rights, free trade, and strong transatlantic cooperation.
