Lilian Otiso

Lilian is on the leadership team for one of the largest indigenous NGOs in Kenya, LVCT Health. She is a medical doctor with an MBA in healthcare management. In her capacity as director of programs, she manages over 300 staff, overseeing the implementation of multi-million dollar grants aimed at preventing HIV or minimizing its impact in our society especially among the vulnerable and marginalized. She conducts health systems research focusing on strengthening and highlighting the role of community health workers in linking communities and health systems. Lilian works closely with the Ministry of Health to form and develop policies and guidelines that facilitate scale-up of some of the innovative interventions she develops in her programs. She is also involved with international bodies such as WHO, where she has contributed to guidelines, and the Health Systems Global, where she served as founding chair of the thematic working group on community health workers.
