Brenda is professional arts administrator with more than 12 years of experience in theatre and festivals. Currently, she is the Head of Arts Nigeria and Creative Economy Lead for SSA region at the British Council. Before joining the British Council, She has served as the pioneer producer for the Lagos Theatre Festival and was instrumental in the growth of the largest outdoor theatre festival in West Africa. In 2015, she started the focus group‚ Women in the Arts (WIA), as a semi-formal space where female artists across the creative economy can have networking opportunities. In 2017, she hosted the UK Shadow Minister for Women and Gender Equality Sarah Champion. Brenda is a strong advocate for women who have suffered sexual and gender-based violence. Using theatre as a tool, she continues to advocate for actionable legislation against these crimes against women. Brenda also co-founded the Lagos Fringe which has gone to receive acclaim for being one of the most accessible festivals on the continent.
