Odyssey Day: the Cyclops, Circe and Penelope

Join us for a reading and discussion of The Odyssey focusing on Odysseus' encounters with the Cyclops and Circe and his return to Penelope. University of Chicago Classics faculty will lead us in readings and discussions of these three pivotal scenes in the epic and explore how they've been staged through the ages in translations, novels, poetry, art, and film. How does the Odyssey continue to speak to us on questions of combat, danger, truth and lies, confronting difference, transformation and return, war and reconciliation.
