Details

Join a conversation about censorship, public trust, and the role libraries and schools play in keeping ideas within reach. Moderated by Chicago Public Library Foundation President and CEO Eva Giglio, the program brings together censorship scholar Dr. Emily Knox, publishing leader and intellectual freedom advocate Skip Dye, and award-winning author Kiese Laymon. Together, they’ll trace the history of censorship and examine its impact on literacy and trust in public institutions. You’ll also explore how open inquiry can strengthen trust across our communities and leave with practical ways to support access to books and ideas—ahead of the Obama Foundation’s 2026 Democracy Forum.
