Ainka Jackson

Executive Director

Ainka Jackson is the founding Executive Director of the Selma Center for Nonviolence, Truth, and Reconciliation—committed to Selma 2.0: Bridging Divides and Building the Beloved Community. Jackson is also the Co-Executive Director of the Selma Bridge Crossing Jubilee—the largest annual Civil Rights commemoration. From Selma, Alabama, Jackson appreciates that every successful legal and legislative movement required a people's movement. Therefore, she organizes to address racial and economic inequities. She is co-creator of the Beyond Divide and Conquer: Unite and Build Racial Equity Training and a Level 3 Nonviolence Conflict Reconciliation trainer. Previously a foster care case manager, teacher, and public defender, she understands the necessity of personal, cultural, and institutional change. The Spelman College and Vanderbilt Law graduate has spoken at the United Nations in Switzerland about inequity and been featured in Essence Magazine for voter mobilization efforts. Jackson is an inaugural Obama USA leader. She has three beautiful children.
